About the Artist

In plein air and experimental landscapes, I try to bring a little wildness and solitude back home with me. I am captivated by untamed vastness, ever-changing light effects across the land, and impossible beauty I find wherever I look. The magic happens when my nerdy side -- a deep reverence for nature, science, and history -- confronts the aesthetic challenges of art making.

Oil painting is a beautifully expressive medium that allows a rich variety of visual effects. In the field and in my studio, I love the adventure and physicality of painting, the unabashed sensuousness of the art form, and the freedom to explore abstraction, realism, and anything in between. I am perpetually humbled and grateful for the opportunity to explore and keep learning.
